UPSC Civil Services 2017: Notification to be announced on February 22

Candidates who wish to apply for the exam for the test can submit their application forms by March 17. The preliminary examinations will be conducted on June 18 while the main exam is scheduled to take place on October 10.

The official notification for the Civil Services 2017 preliminary examination will be released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on February 22. Candidates who wish to apply for the exam for the test can submit their application forms by March 17. The preliminary examinations will be conducted on June 18 while the main exam is scheduled to take place on October 10. UPSC conducts this examination to select candidates in order to fill the administrative positions in different All-India Services and central civil services including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IRTS.

UPSC Civil Services Prelim Exam pattern

The preliminary examination will consist of two papers — 1) objective type, 2) general studies.

  • The first paper has multiple choice questions that carry a total of 400 marks are asked
  • The second paper has general studies type questions in which candidates need to qualify with minimum 33 per cent marks
